Lamar CISD came out on top this year with an overall A rating for the 2018-2019 school year by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Only 301 out of 1,200 school districts received an A.
This is good news for Veranda students and their parents as it means Veranda schools benefit from belonging to a school district known for innovative programs and high academic standards.
District ratings are based on performance in three areas – Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps. Districts earn an “A” for exemplary performance when they serve most students well and encourage high academic achievement and/or appropriate academic growth for students.
Lamar CISD was recently featured on KPRC’s “Cool Schools” feature, with the video citing smaller high school enrollments, the district’s many state championships and the interactive teaching tools available. All of which help the district achieve its motto of “A proud tradition, a bright future.”
